What your child will practice
A page shows 2 dots and 1 more dot. Your child counts them all and writes 2 + 1 = 3. Totals stay at 5 or less. The last pages have a short math story you read aloud.
How you help
Sit next to your child. Ask, "Point to the two groups. How many in all?" If they get stuck, count the first group together, then let them count the rest.
When to move on
Move to Intermediate: Adding within 10 when these pages feel easy. If you're still helping on most problems, do a few pages again.
